Tony Cooke, The Now & the Not Yet

“What we do in life echoes in eternity”
-what God has done in eternity should echo in our lives

Key Scriptures
-1 Timothy 4:8
-1 Corinthians 13:9-10, 12-13

-Heaven is not for perfect people, Heaven is for forgiven people
-God loves me just the way I am but He loves me too much to let me stay this way.
-I’m not where I shall be, but I’m not where I’m used to be.

***God’s plan***
1) we are in the world, but not of it.
-not isolated, but insulated.
2) the best for us is yet to come
-2 Timothy 3:1-5
-Lower your expectations of earth, it isn’t Heaven, don’t expect it to be. (Max Lucado)
3) we are to seek things above
-Colossians 3:1-4
-1 John 2:15
-if you love the world the love of the Father is not in you.
-don’t love your past more than you love Gods plan for your future.

Anatomy of a Fool
1. A fool does not listen. (Proverbs)
2. A fool does not tell himself no. (Ecc 2)
3. A fool a fool says in his *heart* there is no God (Psalm 14)

A GOOD thing can become a BAD thing if it becomes an ULTIMATE thing.

-when your pursue the longings of your flesh, you say in your heart there is no God!
-it doesn’t matter what your mouth is saying, in your heart you say there is no God.
-listen not to understand, but for compassion. Not to understand, but to give that other person attention.
-a fool only worries about getting his point across, he cannot be corrected.
-a fool bows down to his urges and is led by his urges rather than the Holy Spirit

****Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, then the surrendering of my heart is the end of my foolishness.

We serve a RIGHT NOW God

Heaven is not the goal! Bring Heaven down to Earth! Many Christians believe that we are required to suffer and struggle through this life, and don’t worry because you’ll finally have peace and happiness in Heaven. Not true! You can have peace, happiness, and God’s will for your life NOW. Adapt this new attitude this week, & claim what’s yours NOW! There are seasons when God has us to wait and strengthens our patience and endurance through tests and trials but as mighty as a God we serve, believe that He has set a mighty path before you to enjoy, conquer, & be fulfilled NOW!

Part 2

“Now honestly there are some times when I feel like God isn’t present w me. That He is letting me go through life w/o Him & He’s letting me deal w everything on my own. He hasn’t left you to deal w everything on your own, if anything He’s probably trying to bring you to something greater. It’s just like when you’re teaching a child to walk. First you’re not that far from them, you’re like 2 steps away from them and you say walk to me. You don’t stand there forever bc you want the child to learn to walk so everyday you go farther & farther away from the child so they can learn to reach out on their own so one day you won’t have to coach them & show them how to walk. That child might fall & it may hurt you but you know if you stand right in front of that child they aren’t going to ever learn how to walk on their own. It’s the same way w God, He may step back but He never leaves us. And even though He would love to always be right there in front of us, He knows that if He doesn’t challenge us or groom us w life’s trials we won’t ever come to fully be what He has called us to be. There may be a time when we don’t see God right in front of us, bc we keep falling down when we’re going though this walk but if we look forward, stay focused, & listen to His voice, & follow the voice that says “Walk to Me”, we will see that He never left us, He’s right there towards the end cheering us on. Whatever it is you’re going through, I know that you will overcome it. And when you do, the enemy is going to have to come much harder than that. Remember Romans 8:28 for I reckon that the present sufferings cannot be compared to the glory that is to be revealed to us. One of my favorite quotes is

“Lord you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me alone.”
God replied, “My precious, precious man, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

Be encouraged.”

Part 1

A piece of advice I give my friends often, so I put it in my notes so I could just copy and paste it to them! Lol

“You can never separate God’s spirit from His faith. Ever. The enemy will do anything to convince you that God’s spirit has left you, that He is far from you. Especially when we sin, it’s easy for us to believe God is absent. Or like we can’t “feel” God like we used to. The devil knows what you are capable of through FAITH, bc remember you can’t seperate His spirit from His faith. So he will try to convince you that God has left you when he has not, he doesn’t want you to know that through faith, Gods spirit is always w you, he doesn’t want you to know how mighty you are and can be with the faith of God! He will never leave you Nor forsake you, so don’t believe the lie that God is not there.”

Lord, help me not to just be a hearer but a doer.
Help me not to be a gazer but a walker.
Hold my hand and help me to leave footprints along the paths You lead me to.
Lord, help me to boldly walk the paths set before me.
Help me to live the life You have given me fully, completely, and abundantly.
Let me experience the power provided through the life of Jesus Christ living in me.
Lord, let me live my life in such a way,
with such endurance,
with such commitment,
and with such vigor,
that when You tell me to take a foreign path with a destination I cannot predict, I will be ready to do it boldly-knowing that You are with me along the way, that I am not alone, and that You only set me on a path of unknowing because You want me to grow in the walk and take me to a greater place through the journey.
Amen.

“There is nothing you can do that make God stop sharing his “steadfast love”.. Psalms 133.. Imagine if someone came to you and told you everything your spouse has done, will do, and is doing right now in order to break your heart, would you still say I DO?
God still says I DO knowing what we are doing, will do, and have done! “

First Church Of God, Center of Hope

“God has to shift some things & change some things before He reveals His entire promise to you because if He gives it when you want it, you might not be ready! You might turn what should be a blessing into something that turns out bad because you’re not ready for it! He needs to take you through some stuff so that what He has for you remains a blessing!”

“You are trying so hard to carry all of your burdens, but GOD NEVER DESIGNED YOU TO BE ENOUGH. He designed you to be dependent on Him.”
