I often catch myself wondering “why don’t people want God?”. I can come up with a million reasons why they should. So I googled “blind to the truth”. I found sooooo many scriptures that would explain an observation that truly bothers me ALL the time. The scriptures that stood out to me were Acts 28:27; “For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts & turn, and I would heal them”, and 1 Corinthians 2:14; “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, but considers them foolishness, & cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit”. I came to the conclusion that they are some that will never stop running from God. They will never accept the truth because they are so content with lies. They love the lies that they believe, and these lies have become their “truth”. We must be careful to not let these types of people discourage us, but let them encourage us to press toward any who are searching and to completely commit to those who truly want to hear the gospel or live for Christ. Now that I know the truth, I absolutely love it. I was never content with the lies of this world, even when I hadn’t fully given my life over to Christ. I was always angry, complete bondage, because my eyese were focused on the world, making myself spiritually blind. Now I have fixed my gaze on Jesus, and my world view is completely different. I want to tell EVERYONE about this TRUTH, this ABSOLUTE truth. I live a completely different life, and my eyes are open to soooo much more (more than just physical things; Acts 2:15 “The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments”). So I leave you with this.. the more you become accustomed to the truth, the more the lies of this world will disgust you. And in order to overcome the bondage of letting these lies dictate your world, fix your gaze on the author and finisher of your life.
Hebrews 12:2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, & the sin which so easily ensnares us, & let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author & finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, & has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
